E-Textiles Pohutakawa

TRCC  Technology Conference in Wellington 7-9 October 2013
to Connect - putting the pieces together.........
At the conference I had the opportunity to attend a workshop run by Erin who supplied the materials for this stunning brooch. It is simple to make, but very effective. The leaf has the conductive thread which forms the contact for the battery. A pocket is made for the battery by folding the leaf stem back. The cord is made into a pom pom and the LED is threaded through the button. The final step is to attach the LED to the stem ensuring good contact is made and sewing through loops made at the base of the wires.

Components: LED, small button, cord, battery, brooch back, pattern for leaf, which is cut from green felt and conductive thread and needle.

The finished Pohutakawa.
